Welcome to the Pafra Glossary

Selecting the right adhesive to meet your specific requirements is instrumental to the success of its application. Below you’ll find a glossary of polymer types used in the manufacture of adhesives. For more information, do get in touch using the details on our Contact Us page.

Polyvinyl Acetate (PVA)

Used for its high performance and as a cost effective solution.

Ethylene / Vinyl Acetate Copolymers (EVA)

With similar benefits to PVA, but having a broader adhesion profile and increased flexibility.

Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVOH)

This is a low cost product that is well known for its high wet tack properties.

Polyurethane Dispersions (PUD)

High environmental tolerance and performance are key attributes of this polymer.

Having an excellent adhesion profile these materials are used in the manufacture of pressure sensitive adhesives.

Starch and Dextrin

These natural products have an exceptional wet tack and benefit from unique flow characteristics.

Hot melt EVA / PUR / Metallocene

Hot melt materials are used where instant bonding is required.
