Envelope Manufacturing Case Study

28th January 2013

The technical team at Pafra have earned their reputation as innovators within this field, and recent work in the envelope manufacturing sector is evidence of our expertise.

A large independent envelope manufacturer based in the UK came to us as they had developed an issue with wrinkling on the flap gum when working with a low cost, light weight Manilla paper.

After discussion with our expert team and reviewing the options readily available, we were able to recommend our standard flap gum adhesive. This product was designed by our specialists with the primary aim of giving exceptional lay flat performance. We were able to significantly reduce down time and increase line speed as our product is dried at a faster rate. This also enabled the client to reduce the coat weight of the adhesive applied, making it the more cost-effective option.

Film Laminating Case Study

28th January 2013

We take pride in keeping customer satisfaction at the heart of all we do. We believe in not only designing and manufacturing industry-leading adhesives, but also work hard to consult with and advise our customers when it comes to resolving issues. The expert team at Pafra have applied their in-depth adhesive knowledge to a range of markets, including film converting, since 1959.

We recently worked with an independent film converting company who manufacture foils and laminates for the food packaging industry. The business was having difficulty bonding a specific combination of film and board with their current adhesive and needed a higher level of support to resolve the issues.

After taking a detailed audit of the company’s process, materials and current practices, our team of technical experts were able to develop a product that would resolve this specific issue. Their laminator was not able to apply the adhesive at the coat weight required in order to achieve the bond strengths needed.  After working with the onsite team in the improvement of their laminator they were able to manufacture the product to their customer’s requirements using the new, bespoke product AquaPAL®9844 which meets their overall requirements.

Carton Manufacturing Case Study

28th January 2013

As leaders in this field, we understand that our customers need adhesive products that are fast, clean and cost-effective. By understanding the application process from end to end, our specialist team are able to design, manufacture and recommend products that will increase line speeds and reduce machine downtime.

A Europe-wide carton producer recently purchased a new Bobst Carton Folder Gluer that had the capacity to run at 1000m/min. The company had already established an enviable reputation for having some of the fastest line speeds in the sector. As a business, the senior team were looking to increase their line speeds further.

Our team suggested our fast wheel in pot grade, the AquaPAL 8900, as it would bond the substrates at the speed required and also run clearly. We monitored how the product performed and the client has increased line speed by a further 100m/min.
