Food-safe adhesive for Accuwin in-line Window Patching

BOBST in partnership with Heiber-Schröder and KAS systems have developed ‘Accuwin’, a window patching system that can be fitted to carton folder-gluers. The first of these units is in the UK is at The Benson Groups' Bardon facility, where it is operating with a BOBST Alpina 110.
Key Accuwin features include:

• High speed production – 40,000 units per hour
• Automatic synchronisation between the divide and the folder-gluer
• Does not penalize non-patched box production
• On-board quality control system with ejection for faulty blanks

Pafra Adhesives have worked with The Benson Group to develop a window-patching adhesive with a broad adhesion range capable of bonding all typical window films. Our specially developed adhesive is capable of giving full fibre tear at minus twenty degrees Celsius – an essential requirement for the cartons used in the chill-thaw freezer process for distribution.

The Benson Group will now be manufacturing all food cartons destined for the freezer using this revolutionary equipment using Pafra’s food-safe adhesive, designed in our laboratory to provide good, clean running performance, resulting in minimal down-time.

We believe this demonstrates our commitment to provide support for new innovations that present a production advantage. Currently, Pafra's is the only adhesive in the world that can run smoothly on the Accuwin system AND make cartons that can sustain the chill-thaw process.
