| There are many factors that can
affect the performance of an adhesive when it is running on industrial
machinery. The obvious key requirement is final bond performance,
but it is equally important for the adhesive to apply well on the
machine without causing dirty running problems. |

The
bond performance for a particular application is tested in a 'humidity
and temperature controlled' environment to ensure consistency of test
results. The vital parameters of grab time, setting speed and tensile
strength of the bond are fully evaluated on a wide range of substrates,
so that we are confident of the final performance of the bond under
real application conditions. |

Pafra Adhesives, it is our belief that the adhesive should become
an integral part of the application equipment/machinery, and should
run 24/7 without causing problems. Therefore we have invested significant
time and resource on the study of rheology (the study of flow properties)
since the company was founded in 1960. This has resulted in an understanding
of adhesive performance and flow characteristics that is second to
none. Based on this knowledge, which is applied to all stages of research,
production and quality control, Pafra has developed a system that
produces adhesives, which not only have predictable bonding characteristics,
but are also designed to perform consistently well in all types of
application equipment. |

| Once an adhesive has been formulated,
undergone line trials and then approved by a customer, the next vital
stage is the ability to consistently produce the grade over and over
again without variations in application or bond performance. To meet
our customers' requirement in this respect, Pafra Adhesives built
a computer controlled manufacturing plant in the early 1980's. In
this plant, raw materials are pumped into the mixing vessel from a
dedicated tank farm and are controlled precisely through a series
of load cells on the mixer as they are added. In fact, the whole manufacturing
process is under computer control from start to finish. |

What we believe is still unique
in the adhesives industry is our 'Predictive Quality System'. This
system continually monitors any variations in raw materials and then
adjusts formulations before each production commences. This has two
important benefits. Firstly it enables us to hit viscosity specification
first time, every time leading to high manufacturing efficiency, and
secondly it ensures complete consistency of product. In turn this
guarantees the performance characteristics of every batch of adhesive
produced by us. |

| Pafra Adhesives believes in on-going
investment in our manufacturing capability. We have recently completed
upgrading the mixing capability on the main vessel allowing faster
batch throughput times and a broadening of the range of adhesive types
that can be manufactured. We also have plans to improve the powder
handing capabilities of the plant. |
